Flooding at Bothy

Severe flooding up at the Bothy over the last few days.
Looks like there must have been at least 2 feet of water inside the bothy.
Jake's table and the small shed had floated as far as the gate but had been held by the adjacent large metal gate. Wood shed collapsed and a fair bit of damage to the fence posts.

The wooden footbridge has disappeared and presumably, looking at the nearby fencing, has gone down the Linn.
The bothy floor had a thin layer of mud most of which we've scraped off and we noted that some on the cladding had popped out of place.

EGM - 29/11/15

A potential turning point in the history of the club saw a small number of members meet in the club rooms on Glamis Rd.  The EGM had been called to discuss the future of the club rooms and with the low turn out, possibly an indicator of the level of interest, the meeting was fairly short with an overwhelming vote to sell the property as it is so very rarely used nowadays.

The other item on the agenda was what to do with the club trophies, again the overwhelming majority decided to gift them to the Meffan Institute where they will be held but not be available for return. Keith agreed to photograph them for David to add to the website.

With the meeting over and the snow on we decided on a wee roll out to the Dunnichen Stone for coffee and bacon rolls

It was still pretty heavy  when we were finished and most headed for home.  Ron & Chris live in Kirrie so I headed up the hill with them and Chris & I headed out to the Drovers hoping it would ease off which it did.  After a few refreshments we both headed for home with the roads pretty much clear and the sun trying to get out.

A short but momentous day for the club.

Next Sundy it's Montrose with a 10:00am start at the Leisure Centre.

Newtyle Rendezvous Ride - 22/11/15

With winter upon us and the rooftops white this morning five of us headed out from the Leisure Centre with Gus going to MacDonalds for breakfast leaving four of us to he'd out the Bogside Road, with the roads slippy pace was easy.  The sun was out though and it was warming up as we got to Miegle for a brief stop.

We turned to Ardler than trough to Newtyle where Keith headed straight home leaving three of us to go for soup but the bar was closed till 12:30 so we did an extra loop.

up  driving back about 12:50 to see Tom heading for home.  We had a good feed and refreshed we headed for home with the wind slightly behind us we may good pace,

Chris headed for home at Glamis  leaving David and I to roll into Forfar after 43 dry but chilly miles.

Next week sees the club have an EGM at the club house - 9:30 so be a ware that the run to Clova may be cut short.
