Wednesday Evening Run to Roundyhill

It was a fine night very calm following the previous days gales as we headed to Roundyhill by Heatherstacks and Benchie. A small turnout, only 4 of us on the night, but enjoyed the evening and the chips.

The Sunday Run this week is to Clova
The Wednesday night run will be to the Drovers Inn at Memus

Sunday Car assisted run round Loch Rannoch

On Sunday 4 of us Gus, Colin, Charlie, and Dave drove up to Pitlochry for a change of scene.
The route from Pitlochry took us over the suspension bridge then around by the theatre to join the Foss road. The early climbs along this road were pretty demanding on a cold but sunny morning. The scenery was spectacular but the narrow road was a bit busy with cars and vans as people made their way to water sports etc. on the Tummel River. After a brief stop at Foss we then tackled the long climb up the Schiehallion road rowards Aberfeldy. At the top we took the minor road around Schiehallion and eventally enjoyed a fine descent to to Kinloch Rannoch. With a decent tail wind we then eased along the south side of Loch Rannoch meeting many cyclists coming the other way on the Etape Route. Once at Bridge of Gaur at the head of the Loch we decided to cycle right up to Rannoch Station. A pleasant 5 mile run to the top but on arrival both the Station Cafe and the nearby restaurant were closed, so we turned around. The run back down required a bit more effort against the breeze, but once at Bridge of Gaur the tree lined north side of the loch was a bit more sheletered. Arriving at Kinloch Rannoch we were a wee bit peckish so we went to the "Treats" cafe, where the "Post Taste" used to be, and enjoyed some lunch. The road down to Tummel Bridge is a bit lumpy and the head wind didn't  help, but as we turned up along the Queen's view side of Loch Tummel we again had some shelter from the breeze. At the end there were a couple of long descents before we joined the old A9 for a couple of miles back into Pitlochry.

Three of us set off from the Club rooms to take a route up over the Whurlies , Kincauldrum Hill, and around the back of Hunter's Hill before dropping down the main road into Glamis. Tom and Keith were already there and we stopped a while before heading home by the main road
