Sunday run to Spittal of Glenshee

As usual the weather was a bit unsettled on Sunday as 5 of us set off from the leisure centre and climbed up by Turfbeg and on to the Kirrie road to make our way up by Kirrie then into Glen Isla. There was a fair headwind at times and the rain would sometimes blow through. Coming out of the glen round by Forter there were a couple of stiff climbs to contend with before we could drop down to Cray and into Glenshee. Joining the main road to Braemar, we then had 5 miles of undulating road before reaching the Spittal just in time before the heavens opened. Ron Harrow and Dave Fawcett were already there when we arrived and we stopped a while for a cuppie and scones before heading back out. From there it was down the A93 as far as Blackwater where we turned off to tackle the long climb up by Drumderg and over to Tully Murdoch. The descent was long and enjoyable and in no time we were down by Alyth Den then along by the golf courses and Shanzie to the Den of Airlie. Here we parted company with Dave Fawcett who headed up the Kaims of Airlie while we went down by Baikie Sawmill and along the Bogside road to Roundyhill where we stopped for a short break before heading home.

Heading home after a short break at Roundyhill

The next Wednesday evening run is to the Drovers at Memus
Saturday is the monthly Bothy Run
The next Sunday Run is to Pitlochry
