Sunday Run Burrelton

Six of us set off from the Leisure Centre for a run to Burrelton.
The weather was a bit overcast and blustery but remained mainly dry as we took the usual route out to Newtyle. Here we turned up the main road on the gentle climb towards Muirhead. Brian turned off up by Auchterhouse as he was only out for half a day while the rest continued for a mile or so before climbing up through Lundie Estate. After a bit more climbing against a head wind we crossed the Coupar Angus Road and headed down the back roads to Abernyte. Another long climb and with the breeze still in our face, we headed up by Black Hill and over to Balbeggie where we took the St Martins Road. Joining the main road at Guildtown we at last started to benefit from the wind, but the roads weren't getting any flatter as we turned to take another long climb up Wolfhill. A couple of miles later we dropped down to Kinclaven to take the back roads into Coupar Angus. From there it was along to Ardler Tavern for lunch were we enjoyed their usual fayre. After the break it was an easy run home by Kirkinch and Balkeerie.
